Catherine Hobbs, Diocesan Director for Education writes…

I have been really proud of our schools over the past few weeks.  Not only have they managed in a very short space of time to gear themselves up for remote learning for their pupils, but they have in creative and supportive ways been uniting and serving their communities. They have truly been The Church.

Examples that have been brought to my attention include:

  • The delivery of lunches, food boxes and additional vouchers to those most in need in their school.
  • Secondary schools donating their science protection wear to the NHS.
  • Schools setting up YouTube channels with daily messages, stories, quick tips, prayers and bedtime stories read by different members of staff.
  • And as you will see below a message of hope for the community made by the children.

I have been offering a daily prayer time for schools and families to access. We were very fortunate that Bishop Philip led the prayers last Friday as the Easter holidays began.

During Holy Week if you would like to access prayers to use with your family please click on this link.
